The Threads’ series: by Alison M. York (www.alisonmyork.ca)

These are multi-generational and multi-faceted fictional stories of time travelling adventure, mystery, and romance.

The serendipitous threads of Clare’s journey and later Paul’s are interwoven, as they are in real life, with people who can and will, change the trajectory of their lives.

Book 1

Tartan Threads:

Serendipity in Scotland

Clare Wood ventures to the Highlands of Scotland to research her grandmother’s past. She serendipitously meets a man with a time traveling quartz crystal geode that alters her life’s trajectory. On her second trip to Scotland, two years later, she accidently meets the older version of the man she met in 1921 and much to her amazement, begins to fall in love with his grandson, Paul.

Book 2

Tangled Threads: Serendipity in Winipeg

Clare Wood and Paul Duncan are in Winnipeg for the 1981 production of Brigadoon at Rainbow Stage Theatre when an unscrupulous stranger, in pursuit of the time travelling crystal geode, intrudes and unexpectantly thrusts them all back to 1955. Getting back to the present day is not going to be easy.

Book 3

Twisted Threads: Serendipity in Lillooet

Clare and Paul become involved in another entanglement with more serendipitous twists and turns than ever before. Along with Paul’s boss, the pair become involved in searching for the boss’s brother in British Columbia’s Interior. Clare and Paul find they’ll need the crystal geode to further solve the complicated family mystery which will mean time travelling back to the Fraser River Gold Rush of 1858.

About Alison

Alison’s imagination leads her to capturing serious, endearing, and comical moments on paper. She enjoys fictionalizing real-life situations and people’s serendipitous memories. She has been writing for as long as she can remember. Her mother and mentor, Jean Clarke, instilled in her the love of reading and writing.

Alison continues to hone her writing craft, gaining knowledge from writing courses, her editor Jenny Gates’ eye for detail and consistency, her graphic designer, Brian Hydesmith’s fine tuning, her supportive beta readers, her Writer’s Group’s eye for details, the support of the Manitoba Writer’s Guild, and Hignell Book Printers who patiently wait for the last-minute corrections. There are many others who share her passion for writing an enjoyable and relatable story.

Alison interweaves Clare Wood’s adventures and happenstance again in the Threads’ series sequel to Tartan Threads: Serendipity in Scotland, Tangled Threads: Serendipity in Winnipeg.  The setting to the story has the readers stepping back to Winnipeg of the early 1980s, Rainbow Stage Theatre and the production of Brigadoon. There’s a pretty good chance something or someone will take them even further back in time with their time traveling crystal geode.

The third and final book in the Clare Wood adventure Threads’ series, Twisted Threads: Serendipity in Lillooet is under construction.

Testimonials - Tartan Threads

“I thoroughly enjoyed Alison M. York’s book Tartan Threads: Serendipity in Scotland. It is an engaging tale of a young Canadian woman who ventures alone to Scotland to meet her relatives. She find adventure, mystery, time travel and romance. I highly recommend this book, especially for young adults.”  - Cheryl Simmonds, retired physician.

While a purist needing some form of categorization would catalogue the story as science fiction, the author has done a great job of creating an attention-grabbing mixture of history, romance, mystery, suspense, and self-discovery throughout the chapters. The book is a success as it passes the ultimate test of having the reader not being able to put the book down as the last few chapters are encountered. This work of fiction is highly recommended for placement in any school or public library. The author as previously indicated two follow up novels are in the works for release in the near future. - R. Ridd, Winnipeg

The flow of the story was very interesting to me and kept me anticipating the next step in the tale. I appreciated the different time stages as the book progressed. I look forward to reading your next novel when it comes out.  - J. Adair, Winnipeg
